Anshul Kamboj has been in the headlines. Yesterday, the right-arm pacer became just the third bowler in the Ranji Trophy to claim all ten wickets in one innings. A truly remarkable feat. Featuring for Haryana, he single-handedly took down Kerala. His first-class exploits received much appreciation, but the focus also shifted towards his last season with the Mumbai Indians (MI).
Anshul Kamboj’s MI experience
After his exploits, he chatted with Cricbuzz. Kamboj talked about his experience at the MI in the 2024 edition. The pacer went on to talk about the learning he gathers from the changing room, which was filled with stars. “There were many legends in the setup, and there was help from all around. Talking to them and working with them was a great learning experience. I’ve learned how to prepare for challenges, bowl in different situations, and most importantly, how to keep improving. They taught me the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and how to get better each day,” said Kamboj.
Becoming Bumrah
Kamboj also watched Indian great Jasprit Bumrah from close quarters. He wishes to emulate the unorthodox pacer’s mindset, approach and poise in the most difficult of situation. “I tried to understand his mindset in different situations. I observed how he handled pressure and how he reacted to various challenges. I paid particular attention to the way he composed himself and made decisions under pressure. I tried to imbibe those qualities,” the 10-wicket hauler said.
Great help: Kamboj on Rohit Sharma
The pacer was similarly kind in his appreciated for Rohit Sharma, who wasn’t MI’s captain last season but was India’s all-format captain until then. “He was of great help. Playing alongside the India captain was no small thing, and it was a fantastic experience. Talking to him was really insightful, especially since it was my first IPL,” Kamboj added.
