In a huge blow for South Africa cricket team, Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of Champions Trophy due to a back injury. The pacer was named in the Proteas squad for the marquee event which would have marked his international return from a toe injury. However, SA will now head into the tournament without the services of the pacer. He is unlikely to be fit in time for IPL 2025 as well.
No Anrich Nortje for CT 2025, IPL 2025
As per Cricbuzz, Nortje has been ruled out of the remainder of SA20 and Champions Trophy 2025. South Africa are yet to announce a replacement for the injury-prone pacer. The back injury to Nortje also means he is likely to miss IPL 2025, handing KKR with a massive blow. The Knight Riders picked up the former DC bowler for Rs 6.50 crore. The defending champions will have to depend on young quicks Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Spencer Johnson, and Umran Malik in the absence of Nortje.
