Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women’s title defence gets even tougher. The reigning champions have already lost four players to injury. Kate Cross, Sophie Devine, Sophie Molineux, and Asha Sobhana are all out of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season for various reasons. Shreyanka Patil could miss the entire tournament as well. As if this wasn’t enough, one of their best performers last season, Ellyse Perry, is also hampered due to an injury.
Ellyse Perry injured, won’t bowl in the first half of WPL 2025
The all-rounder suffered a hip injury last month and won’t be available to bowl in the first half of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season. Before RCB Women’s opener against the Gujarat Giants at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Perry revealed that while she will play today, she won’t bowl in the first half of the WPL.
“Certainly fit for the game, won’t bowl for the first bit of the tournament,” Perry said before the RCB vs. GG match.
“Glad to be out here, nice to be able to prep the last couple of days. So much changes (in between seasons) and even the way the roster just turns over, from that perspective, it very much feels like a clean slate, for us and for all the teams. (On returning to the Chinnaswamy Stadium) Gosh, that place is just amazing for us. We have had such incredible support. Nice to be back there to play some matches. These first two games count for a lot too,” Perry further added.
