A last-minute hiccup for the ICC! Just two hours before the USA vs Bangladesh warm-up game at the Grand Prairie Stadium, the match has been called off due to inclement weather. It’s been a tough time for the people in Dallas, with warnings of flash floods due to severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.
USA vs Bangladesh match called off
According to CNN, around 750000 people have been evacuated from Texas, and the T20 World Cup 2024 has also become a victim of this unfortunate situation. Although the weather hasn’t been kind since last week, it was today (May 28) that it took an even worse turn.
Peter Della Penna, a cricket journalist, provided the update that even the Grand Prairie Stadium took a hit due to the thunderstorm and tornado. A big screen that was brought to the ground was destroyed, but luckily for now, the stands and other infrastructure haven’t been damaged.

No T20 World Cup matches at Grand Prairie Stadium?
The weather isn’t looking good for the current or next week either. Until June 8, thunderstorms are expected daily in Dallas. This means that five of the next six games at Grand Prairie Stadium are under threat. Luckily, the next two matches are warm-ups, and even if they are called off, it won’t affect the tournament much.
However, if the group-stage matches are canceled, it will be extremely difficult for the ICC to reschedule. The board was already under scrutiny due to poor management, and a mammoth logistical challenge may emerge if they change venues.
