Another embarrassment for PCB, board settles for PKR 2.75 crore deal for upcoming white-ball series’

The Pakistan Cricket Board wanted PKR 58.36 crore for the three-year international media rights and rejected the highest bid they received (PKR 21.8 crore).

If the embarrassment of hosting a New Zealand F side wasn’t enough, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) won’t be making much from the upcoming two white-ball series. The Pakistan men’s and women’s cricket teams will host the Blackcaps and the West Indies, respectively, in the coming days.

PCB fails to attract a 3-year bid & settles for a 13-match deal

These 13 matches (5 men and 8 women) have attracted a bid of just $99,000 (PKR 2.75 crore). According to Cricket Pakistan, the PCB had wanted $21 million (PKR 58.36 crore) for the three-year international media rights, but no one showed interest. They instead got a meager $7.85 million from Sports Five.

Considering that the offer was almost 1/3 of what they expected, they turned it down. However, with the two upcoming white-ball series coming up, they have accepted a combined bid of PKR 2.75 crore from Willow and Sports Five.
