‘Anna-Hari’! Rohit Sharma comes up with hilarious Sinhalese sledge to distract Pathum Nissanka

Hindi? English? Oh wait that's the local Sinhalese language by none other than Rohit Sharma!

It feels quite special to listen Indian captain Rohit Sharma from the stump mics, who always stand out for his witty remarks. Recently, he showcased his linguistic skills as well, sledging Sri Lankan batter Pathum Nissanka in his own local Sinhalese language.

‘Anna hari’ show by Rohit Sharma

During the third ODI between Sri Lanka and India, we were treated to a delightful moment that showcased Rohit’s playful nature and quick thinking. As Sri Lanka opted to bat first after winning the toss, their opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando put on an impressive 89-run partnership, threatening to set a formidable target for the Indian team.

The game’s turning point came in the 20th over when left-arm spinner Axar Patel was brought into the attack. As Patel toiled away, trying to break the partnership, Rohit decided to lend his support in a rather unconventional manner. Standing at first slip, the Indian skipper was heard encouraging Patel in fluent Sinhalese.

Anna hari, mēka hari,” Rohit repeated, which translates to “that’s right, that’s right” in English. Even Rishabh Pant was taken aback from these antics by the Hitman, asking the skipper “Kya hai yeh? (What is this?).” Word on the street is that Rohit picked up some Sinhalese from the locals during the start of the 3-match ODI tour. But using it mid-match? That’s some next-level stuff right there
