The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have invested in Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and the star youngster has repaid the faith once again. When the side was stuttering at 2/16 after losing both Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine, Raghuvanshi came and joined his skipper, Ajinkya Rahane. While Rahane missed his fifty, Raghuvanshi clamoured a 30-ball 50 on an Eden Gardens deck that isn’t a belter for batters.
AR-AR partnership for KKR
Pat Cummins sent back de Kock, followed by a Mohammed Shami’s yorker that dismissed Narine. Then the ‘AR’ duo, Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, steadied the ship for the hosts. The duo made 81 off 51 balls in a partnership that saw only 1 over go for less than 8 runs in their stay at the crease.
While Rahane was exquisite in his pick-up shots, Raghuvanshi was hitting everything to his middle of the bat. Some of his lofted shots were just superb to watch, and a sloppy SRH fielding helped as well. Fascinatingly, Raghuvanshi got a reprieve from Nitish Reddy when he was on 43. This was his second IPL fifty after the one he scored in Vizag on his debut against the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.
