Zimbabwe cricket legend Andy Flower is all set to join Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as their new head coach. Flower is well known in the cricket world for his prowess as a coach. However, not many know the former Zimbabwean captain’s list of accolades as both an international and franchise coach. So, here are Andy Flower coaching career achievements.
Andy Flower as a coach in the IPL
Flower has been involved with the Indian Premier League since 2020. Flower entered the IPL as the assistant coach for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). His start to the IPL was off to a great one. PBKS ended the 2020 season ranked 6th on the points table with just six wins from 14 matches.
Flower was appointed head coach for the new IPL franchise, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In the two following seasons, LSG finished third and made the playoffs in the first two seasons. Despite great success, Flower failed to take his side past the eliminator stage in both seasons.

Andy Flower Coaching Career in International Cricket
The former Zimbabwean skipper started his career as a coach with the English Cricket Team. Flower was appointed England’s assistant coach in 2007, a role he retained until 2009. Flower was then appointed Team Director in the summer of 2009. Under his tenure, England won three Ashes series, one away (2010/11) and two at home (2009 and 2013). Flower led England to their first ICC World Cup title in 2010, after they won the T20 World Cup, beating the West Indies. He also took the Test side to number one in 2011 and was awarded the BBC’s Coach of the Year.
Flower then stepped down as head coach in 2014 and became Technical Director of Elite Coaching for the ECB from 2014 to 2016, as well as the head coach for the England Lions (England A).
Andy Flower Coaching Career in Franchise Cricket
The southpaw was appointed as the head coach for Multan Sultan in the PSL (Pakistan Super League) in 2020. He led the team to the top of the table; however, they lost both of their playoff games and finished third overall.
He was also appointed head coach of the Saint Lucia Kings (formerly St Lucia Zouks) in the CPL (Caribbean Premier League) in 2020. Flower maintained his golden touch as a coach. He took his side to the finals after finishing third in the group stage, but Trinbago Knight Rider beat them convincingly by 8 wickets.
In 2023, Flower led the Gulf Giants to the title in the inaugural International League T20, beating the Desert Vipers by 7 wickets.
