Indian cricket team is all set to play a three-match T20I series against Ireland starting from August 18, 2023, at The Village in Dublin, Ireland. While the series mark the return of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah after 11 months, it could also turn special for Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma.
The Indian team will be playing with a second-string squad, which will give them an opportunity to test their bench strength. Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma might potentially make their debuts and the duo are eagerly waiting for it.
Ahead of the IND vs IRE 1st T20I, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a special video where the duo talked about their emotions of making it to the Indian team.
“I feel very nice. It’s a player’s dream to be playing for the Indian national team. When I got to my room and saw my jersey which had my name and the number 35 emblazoned on it, it was a very emotional feeling,” Rinku said in an interaction with Sharma for BCCI.tv.
“I was in Noida, in the place where I practiced. When the team was announced, it felt really good. I called my mother and informed her. She always said that I had to play for India so both of our dreams came true,” the all-rounder added.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma said that it is a great opportunity to express themselves in the team.
“Obviously, I feel great. It’s always a nice experience when you travel with the Indian team to any foreign country. It’s an opportunity and our responsibility to express ourselves,” Jitesh said.
The 1st T20I will be played on Friday (August 18) in Dublin.
