Kolkata Knight Riders will host the Mumbai Indians next on May 11th at Eden Gardens

Amidst the controversy surrounding Lucknow Super Giants’ owner Sanjiv Goenka’s outburst on skipper KL Rahul, Kolkata Knight Riders’ star spinner Varun Chakaravarthy commended Shah Rukh Khan’s kind behaviour towards the players. even during tough times.

“SRK has been present in almost all matches in Kolkata. Even in the match where we didn’t do well, he came to the dressing room and spoke to every player for an hour and hugged everyone,” Chakaravarthy said.

Speaking ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders‘ upcoming match against Mumbai Indians, Chakaravarthy praised Khan’s supportive demeanour, a rather contrast with the recent uproar involving Goenka and Rahul.

He recounted Khan’s encouraging words, reassuring players after losses and instilling confidence in their abilities to bounce back in the next match. The spinner described him as understanding and approachable on meeting SRK for the first time, which left a profound impact on the team.

He said,  “He said ‘It’s just a match, cricket is changing, just try to be better in the next match’. This time, I see a massive difference because the way he has been very understanding, he’s been very approachable, it has made a huge impact. I also got to meet him for the first time.”

Will KKR qualify for IPL 2024 Playoffs?

With 16 points and a great NRR of 1.453, KKR is almost guaranteed to advance until the rest of the pack catches up or Kolkata makes a huge mistake.

Even if they lose all three games, only two teams can outperform them – RR and SRH – and two more can finish with 16 points – CSK and one of LSG or DC. With one more win, they will very probably move into the top two. The Kolkata Knight Riders will host the Mumbai Indians on May 11th at Eden Gardens.
