Just 2 months remain for the start of the ICC Champions Trophy. This means that the initial squad submission date nears for the ICC Tournament. This in turn means that the work of the BCCI Selection Committee continues. With the tournament slated to commence on 19th March, 12 January is now the date to submit the provisional squad for the tournament.
Going by the ICC rules and regulations, the squad provisional squad is set to be submitted to the ICC 5 weeks prior to the start of the tournament. And 12th February would be the final date for the submission of the official squad. The initial squad submission for the tournament starts 30 days prior to the start of the support period.
When is ICC Champions Trophy Squad Submission Deadline?
Meanwhile, the support period begins just 1 week prior to the start of the tournament. “The initial squad submission deadlines at our tournaments are 30 days before the support periods start. The support periods start one week before the tournaments,” ICC had previously informed InsideSport.
“Changes may be made before the support period without seeking permission, but once the support period kicks in, the Event Technical Committee needs to approve replacements,” ICC added.
As per the ICC rules, the initial squad submission will begin on 12th January. However, the final squad submission needs to be done by 12th February, i.e. a week prior to the start of the tournament. If any need needs to make changes to their roster within 1 week of the start of the tournament, they can do so but will have to apply to the Event Technical Committee in such a case.
