Australian batter Glenn Maxwell has refused to clarify anything whatsoever regarding the incident in Adelaide last month which led to the Aussie star being hospitalised. However, his Australian teammate and friend Aaron Finch has come out in support of the batter, saying Maxwell is doing everything possible to ‘stay on the park as long as possible’.
Maxwell on Sunday was present at a golf promotion in Melbourne along with Aaron Finch and former Aussie captain Ricky Ponting. The batter was asked about the incident in Adelaide. However, he bypassed the question, saying, “All good.”
Maxwell is yet to address the incident, opting against interview requests at both the Allan Border Medal night last Wednesday and again on Monday.
Aaron Finch, however, said that the incident has not impacted Maxwell’s frame of mind in any way.
“He seems in really good spirits,” Finch said. “No, this wasn’t ideal timing for him and it was tough on him, but he’s got a tight network around him that helped him out a lot and I think it would have been a good time to reflect on it too.
‘I think what we’ve seen over the last probably three years is the best of Glenn Maxwell on the field. And that’s because he’s got his body right. And then obviously the broken leg that was not ideal,” Finch added.
