It seems like Akash Deep is all set to make Australian batters dance on his fast-paced deliveries, as he showed glimpses of his bowling on fast Australian pitches, troubling Australian openers Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja. Although he didn’t get many overs to bowl due to continuous rain, and the game got called off, whatever overs he bowled, he looked lethal. Impressed by this, former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar showered praise on the bowler and said Akash Deep is reaping the rewards of his consistent first-class performances.
“You can understand this selection. Many of us were surprised that he didn’t start, and perhaps he was even a bit unlucky. His overs had a different tempo after the first rain break, which changed the rhythm of the game. What I liked about him is that he’s someone who has been rewarded for his consistent first-class performances.”
Sanjay Bangar on Akash Deep
Apart from this, Bangar also mentioned that Akash Deep’s first-class performances are gradually helping him, and not to forget, during the home season, Akash Deep made an impressive impact. Now, slowly and steadily, he is trying to do the same outside India.
“Having played for his home state, Bengal, for several seasons, he has bowled them to victory on numerous occasions. The experience gained from playing 36 to 37 first-class matches has given him great control, which was evident when he bowled his four overs. This experience also adds to the pressure of facing Australian batters, as the stakes are higher in such matchups”.
