IND vs ENG 4th Test: Akash Deep receives maiden India cap

Akash will replace premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the game in Ranchi. Bumrah has been rested for the 4th Test and is expected to return to the XI for the Dharamshala Test.

The pacer had a brilliant outing for India ‘A’ in the unofficial multiple-day series against England Lions, where he took 13 wickets.

Who is Akash Deep?

Born in 1996 in Dehri, Bihar, Akash Deep travelled to Bengal in pursuit of a cricket career. Unlike many star players, he did not have the encouragement from his father.

But his determination to earn a name in cricket eventually opened the doors. Since making debut in 2019 for Bengal, Akash Deep has played 30 First Class matches, bagging 104 wickets at an impressive average of 23.58. He also has four five-wicket hauls. Together with Mukesh Kumar, he has formed a great pace bowling partnership for Bengal in Ranji trophy.
