Ajinkya Rahane continues to falter in Ranji Trophy as Team India comeback dream looks distant

Ajinkya Rahane failed to contribute in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy match against Andhra, departing on a golden duck.

Ajinkya Rahane’s hopes of making a comeback in the Test side took a big hit as the veteran batter failed to impress in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Andhra at MCA Cricket Ground.

Rahane, who missed out in the opening game against Bihar due to a stiff neck, returned in the XI but failed to contribute with bat and departed on a golden duck.

Notably, the squad for IND vs ENG Test series is likely to be announced next week and Rahane had the opportunity to prove his form by playing a significant inning, but he failed to deliver.

Rahane last played for India in Test match against West Indies in Port of Spain in July last year, where he scored 8 runs off 36 balls.

With Shubman Gill, KL Rahul back among the runs in the Test format, the return in Indian squad is now looking like a distant dream for Rahane.
