Australian senior batter David Warner smashed a quickfire fifty against India in the first ODI match being played in Mohali. After being invited to bat first, Warner lost his opening partner Mitchell Marsh early as Shami got the better of him. The left-handed batter himself got a reprieve as Shreyas Iyer dropped a sitter. After that, Warner never looked behind and smashed 6 fours and two maximums to bring up his fifty. Warner was scalped by Ravindra Jadeja while trying to clear the long-on boundary.
David Warner continues his Sublime form
David Warner is coming off two good outings against South Africa in the recently concluded 5-match series. Warner started off the series with a duck but made a tremendous comeback in the second match of the series. In Bloemfontein, Warner showcased his prowess by scoring a century in just 87 balls. His aggressive innings of 106 runs off 93 balls, which included 12 boundaries and three sixes, played a pivotal role in Australia’s crushing 123-run victory over South Africa.
Meanwhile, the Men in Blue have given some big jolts to Australians in the first match. After the fall of Warner, pacer Shami gave a body blow to Australia as he scalped the big wicket of Steve Smith. At present, Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green are in the middle for the visitors.
