Mumbai Indians owner Mukesh Ambani receives death threat ahead of IPL 2024 Auction

Mumbai Indian owner Mukesh Ambani received a death threat on 27th October. In a threatening email, the multi-millionaire was asked to pay 20 crore rupees or else he would be killed. The Mumbai Police have lodged a complaint against a Shadab Khan who is said to have sent the extortion email to the MI owner ahead of IPL 2024 Auction.

According to the Mumbai police, it was written in the threatening email that “If you don’t give us 20 crore rupees, we will kill you, we have the best shooters in India.”

After receiving the email, Mukesh Ambani’s security in-charge filed a complaint to the Gamdevi Police of Mumbai. As a result, the Mumbai Police has filed charges of the Indian Penal Code (IPL) that include, 387 (putting a person in fear of death or of grievous hurt in order to commit extortion) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation).

Furthermore, a manhunt has also been organized to find the perpetrator. This is however not the first time that the Mumbai Indians owner has received death threats.

Last year, the Mumbai police had arrested a man from Bihar’s Darbhanga for making death threat calls to Mukesh Ambani and his family members. The accused had also threatened to blow up the Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians who last won the India Premier League will be raring to go in IPL 2024 under the captaincy of skipper Rohit Sharma. The IPL 2024 auction is slated to be held in Dubai on 19th December. The ten IPL clubs have until November 15 to submit their list of retained and released players, after which the auction pool will be finalised in early December.
