Ahead of blockbuster Asia Cup 2023 clash, Team India and Team Pakistan will practice together today (September 1). The arch-rivals are set to battle it out in a Group A encounter in the continental cup on Saturday at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Both India & Pakistan will be practicing together as both teams need to spend time under floodlights and get used to the conditions. This will be the very first match of both teams in Sri Lanka at the Asia Cup 2023.

If they advance to the Continental Cup final and the Super 4 stage, India and Pakistan might play each other three more times.

Fans, analysts, and critics are all prepared to watch the exciting matchup because these two teams only compete against each other during Asia Cup and ICC events.

India vs Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023

Team Pakistan will look to counter their weakness against off-spinners in Friday’s Asia Cup 2023 training.

The batters from Pakistan and India have a history of being proficient spin bowlers. Recently, though, the men in green have frequently been found inadequate when facing off-spin.

Offspinners with recent success against Pakistani batters include Michael Bracewell, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Mohammad Nabi.

It has not gone unnoticed how difficult it is for Pakistan’s opening pair of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to bowl against offspinners. Even run rates against off-spin frequently decrease, and spinners are typically played out.

While India will try to negate their weakness against left-arm speedsters.

The fight between India’s top order, namely Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli, and Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi will be the key talking point of the game on Saturday.

Insidesport

There is no denying India‘s vulnerability against left-arm seamers: examples include Trent Boult in the 2019 ODI World Cup semifinals, Shahid Afridi in the 2021 T20 World Cup, and Mohammad Amir in the 2017 Champions Trophy.

On the other hand, Shaheen Afridi has notably removed 29 right-handed batters in 20 innings since the last World Cup, striking with average of 22, and 10 of those wickets have come on new balls.
