‘Agle mai Pakka samjhe’, confident Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma ready for New Zealand challenge

"We have won 4 out of 4 in World Cup. Can we defeat New Zealand this time? questioned Shubman Gill to Rohit Sharma.

Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma were in good touch against Bangladesh as the former also completed a fifty with the bat. After the match, Gill & Rohit were involved in a conversation where Shubman asked the captain that if India will be able to break their losing streak against New Zealand at ICC events. To note, India will take on New Zealand in their fifth World Cup match to be played in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.

We are playing good cricket and will try our best: Rohit Sharma

‘Someone in the press conference told me that we haven’t defeated New Zealand in ICC events since 2003. Can we do it this time (Agle mai Pakka Samjhe)? questioned Gill. Replying to him, Rohit said, “Yes it’s right we haven’t won against them since a long time but we are playing good cricket. There’s nothing certain but we will try our best to win this time around.”

“I think you have to be mentally willing to go out there and that’s what I was thinking when I was there. Lost a few kilos in the process but hopefully I’ll be able to gain that back,” Gill said in the post-match press conference as India chased down a target for the fourth time in the tournament with the batter scoring 53.

Gill added, “Obviously felt nice [to score his first World Cup half century]. When I was a little sick, I was feeling a bit disappointed on missing out on those opportunities, but definitely felt nice to get some game time.”
