Amir announced his retirement from the international circuit in 2020, citing injustice towards him by the then head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.

Afridi was asked about Amir’s comeback to the national team in a recent interaction. Afridi said he will try and have a chat with the fiery bowler to check if he was interested in donning the national colours once again.

“I will talk to Mohammad Amir if he’s available to come back for Pakistan once again. Amir and I bowled together after almost 5 years. It was a very good experience to bowl with him, our partnership was great,” Afridi was quoted by news outlet Cricket Pakistan as saying.

Although, a return for Amir cannot be guaranteed. Amir had recently revealed that he had moved on and had different priorities in his life. Although it will be a tough task for Afridi to change Amir’s mind, Afridi will have a fantastic bowler in hand if he manages to.
