“After World Cup, things changed”: Hardik Pandya reflects on his comeback during IND vs ENG 4th T20I

Hardik Pandya, reflecting on his performance after India's 15-run victory in the 4th T20I, expressed how cricket continues to be his first love.

India sealed the T20I series against England with a thrilling 15-run victory in the 4th T20I match in Pune on Friday, taking 3-1 lead in the 5-game contest. Despite finding themselves struggling at 12/3 in the second over, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube stabilised the innings, guiding the hosts to 181/9. All-rounder Hardik Pandya stole the show with a fantastic inning, scoring 53 runs off 30 balls.

Hardik’s winning return

In a video uploaded by BCCI, Hardik was seen receiving a grand welcome at the hotel with fans chanting his name. Speaking about the match, Hardik said, “I love this sport way too much because it’s been my life; it’s been my priority, my first love. The sport doesn’t wait much; your first love always kisses you back.”

Hardik expressed the joy he finds in cricket: “I believe the sport has given me so much love and many things back that I always have to turn up, be very honest, and loyal to the sport.”

A changing phase for Hardik Pandya

Hardik faced a tough time when he joined the Mumbai Indians as captain, replacing Rohit Sharma, and experienced backlash. However, after winning the World Cup, support for Hardik surged. Reflecting on his performance in Pune, he said, “It’s a very satisfying day and gives me a wonderful feeling before sleeping at night. Post-World Cup, things have changed. I aim to entertain the crowd and ensure every penny they spend counts.”

After the T20I series against England, Hardik Pandya is all set to play the 3-match ODI series against the same team; this will add to his preparation for the much-awaited Champions Trophy starting on 19th February. In 2023 ODI World Cup, Hardik had to miss the world cup midway due to injury, but this year, he’ll try to play the full tournament and lead India to glory again.
