One legend, Virat Kohli bid adieu after winning the ICC T20 World Cup. And after the celebrations, it is the time for the skipper to hang his boots. Rohit Sharma, aka the Hitman, has also announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game. Both the modern day greats leave with their heads held high, after winning the grandest prize of all.

After a long wait of 17 years, the Indian Cricket Team lifted the ICC T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma back in 1007 became the youngest player to win the trophy. And now today, 17 years later, he lifted it for his country as the man leading the Men in Blue.

But with time, the seniors are passing on the baton to the juniors. And like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma too announced at the post match press conference that he too is retiring from the shortest format of the game.
“This was my last game as well. I’ve enjoyed since the time I started playing this format. Better a time to say goodbye to this format. I’ve loved every moment of this. This is what I wanted – I wanted to win the cup,” Rohit Sharma said post match.
“I am very lucky to have players like this in my squad, players who are playing for me and Team India – really, really grateful and thankful as well. This has to be the greatest time. I can say that. It’s only because of how desperately I wanted to win this. All the runs that I’ve scored in all these years, it does matter but I’m not big on stats and all of that. Winning games for India, winning trophies for India – that is what I look forward to all the time,” Rohit concluded.
