The ODI World Cup 2023 commenced today, but it has begun to attract some negative attention. The world’s largest Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was found with its seats covered with bird litter, putting a question mark on BCCI’s preparation for the marque tournament.

A cricket fan, who went to watch the World Cup opening match between England and New Zealand shared the poor conditions of the seats and expressed his disappointment.

Notably, the Narendra Modi Stadium is scheduled to host 5 matches of the World Cup, including the high-profile India v Pakistan and final of the tournament.

World Cup matches at Ahmedabad

October 5: England vs New Zealand
October 14: India vs Pakistan
November 4: Australia vs England
10 November: Afghanistan vs South Africa
November 19: Final

Earlier, a fan had shared an image of dilapidated seats at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad during PAK vs AUS World Cup warm-up game.

This is the first time India is solely hosting the ODI World Cup.

Tickets management leaves fans frustrated, stadium empty

The ENG vs NZ World Cup opener saw almost an empty stadium for the clash at 2 PM at a stadium that can host 1,30,000 people. The reason behind the lack crowd is said to be the ticket mismanagement by BCCI.

Without any digital ticketing system, fans had to book tickets on BookMyShow and had to wait for the tickets to be delivered at their home or have option to redeem it from the stadium box office. However, technical glitches, server issues and waiting period left the cricket fans frustrated.
