After skipping Champions Trophy, Indian umpire Nitin Menon retained in ICC Elite Panel

Nitin Menon has been part of the ICC Elite Panel for 6 years, and has officiated in 40 Test, 75 ODIs and 75 T20Is.

One of the best umpires in the world, India’s Nitin Menon has retained his place in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, announced on Tuesday. He has been part of the prestigious list for the last years, and became only the third man to make it there. On the other hand, umpires Joel Wilson and Michael Gough have been kicked out from the Panel of Umpires.

In their place umpires Allahudien Paleker from South Africa, and Alex Wharf have been included. Not just that, another Indian umpire, Jayaraman Madangopal has been moved up to the Emerging Panel. That now makes his eligible to officiate in overseas Tests and ODIs as well; and has officiated in a Test, 22 ODIs and 42 T20Is till now.

Another Indian Umpire Promoted

Meanwhile ICC chairman Jay Shah congratulated the two umpires for making an entry into the elite panel. “By definition, being an elite official brings with it scrutiny and pressure, but we are confident that both Allahuddien and Alex possess the temperament, experience and skill to deliver consistently at this very top level,” Shah said.

“On behalf of the ICC, I wish them all the best for the upcoming season as well as for the future. We would also like to place on record our sincere thanks to both Joel and Michael for their services to the world game, over a number of years.” Earlier, umpire Anil Chaudhary hung his boots, and became a commentator for IPL 2025.
