Mumbai Indians have endured a torrid start to IPL 2024. The Hardik Pandya-led side has lost two matches in a row, and will return to Wankhede Stadium to play the next four matches at home.
But in the face of intense criticism from supporters and former teammates, captain Hardik Pandya chose to take a much-needed break despite the pressure to perform. Hardik has been on the eye of the storm since taking over the captaincy role at the MI franchise. He has received criticism for his captaincy and has faced trolls from Rohit Sharma’s fans.
The MI team returned to Mumbai from Hyderabad. According to a report from One Cricket, Hardik immediately headed to his Mumbai home after landing at the airport to rest and regroup. The MI captain has made the decision to spend his vacation with his family instead of with his team.
Mumbai lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 31 runs in a high-scoring match. Mumbai’s chase ended at 246 runs after they gave up an enormous total of 277 runs. Mumbai’s inability to reach the target was partly attributed to Hardik Pandya’s slow batting pace during the match.
The Mumbai team will have four days off before playing the Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium on Monday. This will give them time to gather themselves and refocus.
