After ‘near death’ experience, Mayank Agarwal returns to Karnataka squad for Ranji Trophy

Mayank Agarwal had suffered a serious health scare after he ingested a liquid on the flight, believing it to be water.

After going through a ‘near death experience’ mid flight, Opening batter Mayank Agarwal has been cleared to return to cricket. The 32-year-old has been named in Karnataka’s squad for the clash against Tamil Nadu in Ranji Trophy, starting on February 9.

Agarwal had suffered a serious health scare while travelling from Tripura after he ingested a liquid on the flight, believing it to be water.

The right-handed batter was deplaned and rushed to a hospital in Agartala, where he was monitored by the medical team and was discharged the following day.

Mayank Agarwal returned to Bengaluru the next day but missed the Ranji Trophy encounter against Railways in Surat.

Apart from Mayank, in-form batter Devdutt Padikkal has also returned to squad following a successful stint with India A.
