Amid backlash over prioritizing T20 cricket over Tests, star wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan has returned to the field. The southpaw had pulled out of the India vs South Africa Test series last year, citing mental fatigue from non-stop cricket for the past three years.
However, since then, Ishan Kishan has been nowhere to be found. Not only international cricket, but the southpaw was not even participating in domestic cricket and skipped the entirety of the Ranji Trophy 2024 season.
Now, with less than a month left before the start of the IPL 2024, the wicketkeeper batter has returned to play in the DY Patil T20 tournament.
Following his decision to skip India’s premier red-ball event, the BCCI gave a stern warning to youngsters skipping the event, and skipper Rohit Sharma recently echoed the same after winning the India vs England Test series 3-1 in Ranchi.
Kishan isn’t the first player to return to action in the DY Patil T20 tournament. Just yesterday, another star Indian cricketer, Hardik Pandya, graced the event after being out of action for four months. Before the tournament, both Kishan and Pandya were also seen training together in the gym.
