Andrew Flintoff made his public appearance in nine months after suffering from a nasty car accident in December 2023. The legendary cricketer has joined the England team for their four-match ODI series against New Zealand. Flintoff was captured watching ENG vs NZ first ODI from the stands. The former England all-rounder is recovering well from the injuries he sustained while filming a documentary for BBC show Top Gear December.
Flintoff shares a good equation with England’s managing director Rob Key. The former England captain arrived in Cardiff ahead of the first ENG vs NZ ODI and was seen in fielding drills. Flintoff also interacted with a few of the coaching staff and seemed happy and jolly. England captain Jos Buttler is thrilled to have Flintoff back as a backroom staff.
“He’s been starting to do some stuff in cricket,” said Jos Buttler, England’s captain who briefly played alongside Flintoff when he made a comeback for Lancashire in the T20 Blast in 2014. “It’s just great for him to be around.”He’s obviously an England legend, and it’s just nice to have him around the group,” Buttler added.
“He’s not been brought in with any specific role, just to be around and observe. A few of the lads can pick his brains a little bit and he’s settled in really well,” Buttler said to ESPNCricinfo.
