After hair dryer, helicopter, Premadasa Stadium uses custom fans to dry surface in IND vs PAK match

The IND vs PAK Super 4 clash of the Asia Cup was washed out on Sunday. The match will resume on Monday in Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

As expected rain played a huge role in Premadasa Stadium on Sunday. The India vs Pakistan was suspended on September 10 due to incessant rain. The ground staff in Colombo gave their all but the rain came out victorious in the end. Meanwhile, a pic of the Colombo ground-staff using table fans to dry the pitch have gone viral on the social media.

Batting first, Rohit and Gill stroked fifties vs PAK

Speaking about the match, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first with the weather around. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a flying start adding 121 runs in a quick time. While Gill was the aggressor, Rohit took his time to get going. Naseem Shah bowled a quality spell with the new ball and also found Gill’s outside edge but the Pakistani slip cordon didn’t react to it, seeing it flow between Iftikhar Ahmed and Agha Salman.

Both of them scored respective half-centuries with the Indian captain taking Shadab Khan to the cleaners. Shadab did make a come back and had the last laugh at Hitman but not before him hitting 56 off 49 balls. Shaheen deceived the other opener in the very next over and got Pakistan back in the game. Gill hammered 58 off 52 balls.

Virat Kohli (8* off 16) and KL Rahul (17* off 28) played cautiously and were getting set in the middle before the rain struck the game really hard.

Meanwhile, the game will resume on September 11 (Monday). Both Rahul and Kohli will aim to start well against the Men in Green bowlers. On the other hand, Babar Azam and Co will look to restrict the Men in Blue batters and chase down the total later on in the evening. However, the forecast for tomorrow looks not so promising either.
