SHardul Thakur dismissed a dangerous-looking Venkatesh Iyer before scalping Nitish Rana for a first-ball duck to trigger a massive collapse. KKR never recovered as they lost 8 wickets for just 34 runs, with Thakur picking up his third to dismiss Rahul Tripathi. He ended up as CSK’s leading wicket-taker in IPL 2021, taking 21 wickets, as he finished fourth in the purple cap race.
With another IPL title in the bag, Shardul Thakur will now turn his attention to the T20 World Cup, having made a late entry into the squad for Axar Patel. With Hardik Pandya’s fitness a huge concern, the Men in Blue decided to rope in SHardul as cover, with the CSK star having shown his ability with the bat in the recent tour of England, scoring two half-centuries.
