After Champions Trophy snub, Mohammed Siraj fails to impress in Ranji Trophy, takes only 1 wicket

Mohammed Siraj struggled in his Ranji Trophy return, taking just one wicket, raising concerns over his form after missing out on India’s Champions Trophy squad.

One of India’s top bowlers, Mohammed Siraj, failed to impress in his Ranji Trophy return. The Hyderabad bowler only managed to take 1 wicket against Vidarbha on Thursday. Siraj is going through a tough time. After being in the front during the Boder-Gavaskar Trophy, the bowlers suddenly failed to make it into the India squad for the ICC Champions Trophy. Fans were hoping for a redemption from his Ranji Trophy return but failed to do so. Siraj didn’t play the first Ranji match after the conclusion of the IND vs AUS series, taking a rest, but made a return for Hyderabad in the second match.

Mohammed Siraj’s bad outing in Ranji Trophy

Siraj had a bad outing in his Ranji Trophy return. Talking about the match against Vidharbha in Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur, he failed to take a single wicket in the first 15 overs. The only wicket came in his final spell, where he dismissed Harsh Dubey, who was batting at 65 runs. It was the ninth wicket for Hyderabad, and soon the innings concluded with 190 runs. It was not even like the pitch was not friendly to pacers since Milind & Chinntla Rakshan Readdi together took 5 wickets.

Siraj is the most overused bowler from India in BGT

In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Mohammed Siraj bowled over 157 overs, which was more than his teammate Jasprit Bumrah, who bowled 151.2 overs but couldn’t bowl in the last innings due to a back spasm. Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, bowled the most in the series with 167 overs in five games and took 25 wickets at an average of 21.36, including a five-wicket haul.

Siraj since 2023

Since the beginning of 2023, Siraj has taken 104 wickets in 57 international matches for India, with an average of 27.89. During this time, his best performance was taking 6 wickets for 15 runs in a match, and he has achieved three five-wicket hauls. Siraj has bowled a total of 683.5 overs, making him the Indian fast bowler with the most overs bowled in this period.
