After Champions Trophy, another BCCI vs PCB battle awaits as Pakistan host Women’s World Cup Qualifiers

Pakistan is expected to host the World Cup qualifiers for the main event, that is scheduled to take place in India, in October.

Another face off between BCCI and PCB is most likely on the cards as, after the conclusion of the Champions Trophy, Pakistan is set to host the ICC Women’s World Cup qualifiers. The main event is scheduled to take place in India later in the year, while the neighbouring country is expected to play host for the six-team event from April 4, as per a report in Cricbuzz.

BCCI vs PCB Once Again?

The report suggests that the exact date and and the venue is not confirmed, but Lahore could be the preferred destination, that most recently played host to some key matches in the Champions Trophy, including the semis between South Africa and New Zealand. Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand, apart from Pakistan will play in the event, while just two spots are up for grabs in the World Cup.

Pakistan to Host Women’s World Cup Qualifiers

The World Cup features India, Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand. Now, the bigger issue is, will PCB let Pakistan travel to India, in case they qualify for the tournament. Before the Champions Trophy, both PCB and BCCI, had agreed that they won’t travel to the other country, to play an ICC event match, and their matches will only be held in neutral venues. Hence Team India is playing all their CT 2025 matches in Dubai.

Neutral Venue for Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team?

Another question that remains is, what country will host Pakistan’s matches in case they qualify for the World Cup? While all these are assumptions for now, but a standoff between Indian and Pakistani board could become a reality, if that does happen. Apart from this, ICC needs to also intervene, since the qualifiers dates might clash with PSL 11 dates.. and stadiums might be needed for the matches.
