The Khan brothers are enjoying the best period of their lives. The older brother, Sarfaraz Khan, made his Test debut last week and became just the fourth Indian to score a twin fifties on his debut. Meanwhile, younger brother Musheer Khan, who is off the back of a successful Under-19 World Cup with the bat, has notched up his maiden first-class century.
Playing in just his fourth first-class match, the 18-year-old scored an imperious ton in the Mumbai vs Baroda match in the Ranji Trophy 2024. The young right-handed batter got to his maiden hundred in just 179 balls and rescued his team from a collapse.
Although Musheer Khan had entered to bat at the No. 3 spot, constant wickets falling from the other ends had put immense pressure on the youngster. Playing his first match of the Ranji Trophy 2024 season, the younger Khan showed the same skills and grit as his brother Sarfaraz.
With his side reduced to 142/5 and stalwarts like Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw failing, Musheer stood up and showed the same promise that everyone had seen in the Under-19 World Cup.
What makes the knock even more special is the fact that it’s in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals. With the semifinal spot on the line, Musheer has shown his ability to rise in the big moment and not succumb under pressure, making him one of the players to look out for.
