After Barbados Hurricane, Team India’s T20 World Cup victory celebration faces Mumbai rain threat

It looks like wherever Team India goes, rain follows! After Hurricane Beryl in Barbados, the Men in Blue's victory parade in Mumbai could see heavy rain.

Team India’s dream run at the T20 World Cup 2024 seems to be followed by a persistent raincloud. After being stranded in Barbados due to a Hurricane Beryl that delayed their return home, the team now faces a potential downpour that could dampen their open-bus victory parade in Mumbai.

A hero’s welcome for India!

India’s historic win, the first undefeated T20 World Cup campaign ever, was met with jubilation across the nation. The team received a rousing welcome in New Delhi and even had a breakfast meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, their much-anticipated victory parade in Mumbai on Marine Drive, scheduled for 5 pm onwards, might be disrupted by heavy rain.

Victory parade under rain threat

Weather forecasts paint a gloomy picture, with weather.com predicting a near-certain 100% chance of rain near the Wankhede Stadium. This might pose a significant challenge for the open-bus parade, potentially putting a damper on the celebratory mood for both the team and the fans eagerly awaiting their heroes. The bus parade journey is scheduled from the NCPA, Nariman Point, and to a short distance of about 2 kilometers to the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The prize money ceremony will also take place at the venue.

Despite the fact that rain is almost certain to pour down, the fans are expected to throng at Marine Drive and will move alongside the team bus. Regardless of the weather, Mumbai’s excitement for their victorious team is undeniable. Fans might need to come prepared with raincoats and umbrellas, but their enthusiasm is unlikely to be deterred.
