However, ACB CEO Hamid Shinwari has assured cricket fans that the present political situation won’t have any bearings on Afghanistan cricket and that the game won’t suffer.

“Taliban loves cricket. They have supported us since the beginning. They did not interfere in our activities,” Shinwari was quoted as saying by PTI.

“I don’t see any interference and expect support so that our cricket can move forward. We have got an active chairman, I remain CEO until further notice,” Shinwari said.

Taliban Enters ACB Headquarters: While there is a lot of uncertainty around the future of Afghanistan cricket and its players, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is keeping a close watch on the proceedings.

InsideSport understands that the game’s governing body won’t be making any hasty decision and is closely monitoring the situation. InsideSport has approached the ICC for a comment on the ongoing issue and a response is awaited.

Afghanistan is currently scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan in Sri Lanka. Star players Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi are currently in Britain for The Hundred and will then join the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the second leg of IPL 2021.
