AFG vs UGA: Fazalhaq Farooqi, openers take Afghanistan to win in T20 World Cup mis-match vs Uganda

AFG vs UGA: Courtesy of some exceptional bowling by Fazalhaq Farooqi, Afghanistan posted one of the biggest wins in T20 World Cups.

As soon as Afghanistan scored 183, it was up to the bowlers, as to what score they could restrict Uganda. Fazalhaq Farooqi came up with exceptional bowling figures of 5/9 to dismiss the entire Uganda side for 58. Interestingly, on Monday, Anrich Nortje had returned with similar figures of 4/7 vs Sri Lanka, where the South Africans bundled them out for 77.

Fazalhaq first got the better of Ronak Patel for 4. And after that it was only a matter of time, that other Ugandan batters followed. It was a poor batting display by the upcoming African nation. Robinson Obuya emerged as the top-scorer for them, who made 14 from 25. Apart from him, a certain Riazat Ali Khan managed to entre double figures, and scored 11 from 34.

Afghan Batters Make Hay

At the start of the first innings, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran looked men on a mission — to give a great NRR to the team, just in case NRR comes into play. Gurbaz scored 76 from 45 while Zadran scored 70 from 46, in an opening stand of 154. The only notable performances on the day for Uganda came from the bowlers, where skipper Brian Masaba returned with figures of 2/21 and Cosmas Kyewuta (2/25).
