Adelaide Oval
Established in 1871, Adelaide Oval is one of Australia’s most iconic and historic cricket grounds, located in Adelaide, South Australia. Since its establishment, the ground has witnessed many major cricket games, including numerous World Cup games and many memorable Ashes Test matches. The ground has a capacity of 53,583, with a mix of seating and standing room. The stadium is also famous for its picturesque setting, with the city skyline and cathedral visible in the background.
Looking at the stadium surface, Adelaide Oval is usually considered a batter’s paradise. We have seen many batters score big runs here, as the first three days of any Test match typically offer a flat track. After that, the pitch begins to turn, making it favourable for spinners. The venue is home to the South Australia cricket team and the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League. Since 2013, Adelaide has hosted drop-in pitches.
