Added baggage: Jasprit Bumrah refrains from looking at numbers despite match winning knock in Vizag Test

IND vs ENG Test: Jasprit Bumrah claims numbers are added baggage after heroics in IND vs ENG 2nd Test in Vizag

India Cricket Team’s vice captain and ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah produced a match winning performance. He took a total of 9 wickets to help India win by 106 runs. A sensation six-fer in the first innings and a three-wicket haul in the second innings was enough for India to level the IND vs ENG Test series 1-1.

India made a sensational comeback after losing the Hyderabad Test. India outplayed England in Vizag to comprehensively win the Test. Chief architect of India’s win, Jasprit Bumrah claimed that he doesn’t look at numbers. He claimed that it is an added baggage and he doesn’t want to deal with it.

“I don’t look at numbers. As a youngster I did that and it made me excited. But now it’s an added baggage. As a youngster that is the first delivery I learned (yorker). Had seen the legends of the game. Waqar, Wasim and even Zaheer Khan. We’re going through a transition so I feel it’s my responsibility to help them in any way I can,” Bumrah said after the match.

India’s pace head also claimed that there is no competition with James Anderson. He claimed that before being a cricketer he is a fast bowling fan. He further asserted that he has various options available and doesn’t want to be a on-trick pony who can only bowl an yorker.

We discuss certain things. Have been playing with him for a long period of time (Rohit). No not really (competition with Jimmy?). Before a cricketer, I’m a fast bowling fan. If somebody’s doing well, kudos to them. I look at the situation, at the wicket and think what are my options. I should not be a one-trick pony,” Bumrah concluded.
