Australia’s spin wizard Adam Zampa has achieved a rare milestone. The veteran spinner has scalped 23 wickets which brings him at par with Muttiah Muralitharan who too raked up 23 dismissals in the 2007 World Cup. As a result, the duo have now gone on to the record book with the most dismissals in a World Cup by a spinner.

Before the World Cup final, Zampa has been exceptional where he managed to pick 22 wickets from just 10 games. But in the IND vs AUS World Cup final, in a game where the spinners have managed to pick just 2 wickets, Zampa picked a wicket on his last over to dismiss Jasrit Bumrah and pick up his 23rd wicket of the tournament.

Adam Zampa has been locked in a serious battle with India’s Mohammed Shami in the list of the Most wickets taken in the World Cup. Heading into the World Cup, the Indian pacer picked up a sensational seven-fer against New Zealand to take a wicket lead in the race.

Bowling first, Zampa had a rather quiet day but didn’t concede many runs. He however managed to lbw Jasprit Bumrah on his final over and match the great Lankan spinner to equal a brilliant record.

As far as the most wickets taken in the World Cup, Mohammed Shami leads the charts with 24 wickets after taking an early wicket of Australian opener David Warner.
