Ravi Shastri and India’s wild spin in 1985
In a video posted on X, Gilchrist recounted the moment when Shastri was presented the first-ever ‘Golden Audi’ after winning the player of the tournament award. He then took it for a spin, with the rest of the Indian team sitting inside and on top of the car, Gilchrist revealed, terming the moment as hilarious. The ex-Aussie keeper revealed that they had shown Shastri, who is a part of the commentary team for PAK vs AUS series, the footage of the incident recently.
Gilchrist revealed that Shastri had admitted that the Audi was the first-ever as he took it back to India. The former Indian coach had reportedly claimed that the government had waived off the excise duty on the car as well. Gilchrist said that Shastri has the car in his possession till day and claims that he is the ‘Audi ambassador’.
Funnily enough, Shastri was spotted wearing a Ferrari cap a day after he called himself Audi’s ambassador!
