India’s long-standing dream came true as Harmanpreet Kaur and co triumphed over the formidable Australians in a one-off IND W vs AUS W Test match in Mumbai. This historic victory marked the Women in Blue’s first Test win against the Baggy Green in 46 years, since 1977. Beyond the scorecard, a touch of class from Australian skipper Alyssa Healy capped off India’s historic victory.
Alyssa Healy turns photographer after IND W vs AUS W
In a delightful turn of events, Healy switched to being a photographer as the Indian team posed behind the ‘champions’ hoarding. She captured the moments, adding an unexpected but heartwarming touch to the celebratory occasion. The images and videos of this trophy-lifting episode have swiftly gone viral on social media, earning praise for Healy’s sportsmanship and camaraderie.
Speaking on the rather spectacular sight, Healy revealed how she accidently cut out half of the Indian team while clicking their picture after the IND W vs AUS W win.
“It wasn’t my camera. I pushed the cameraman back. So, I thought I would give one of them an opportunity to get up there nice and close. I actually cut off half the Indian team by accident. So, I don’t think he’d be using that one,” Healy said in the press conference.
India asserted dominance with both bat and ball, securing the game with 8 wickets in hand. Sneh Rana earned the player of the match title, claiming 7 wickets. The Indian team’s current form is outstanding, registering consecutive Test victories against England and Australia.
In the first encounter with Australia, Indian bowlers controlled proceedings, restricting England to under 140 runs in each inning. The second match showcased a complete performance from India, leading the Test from day one.
Notably, India’s triumph over England marked the largest margin of victory by runs against them. The win over Australia, the first in 11 Tests, has tilted the balance in favor of more victories than defeats in India’s Test record.
Out of 40 Tests, India now boasts seven wins and six defeats, with 27 drawn matches. This remarkable performance prompts a call for further consideration of hosting more ‘home’ Tests in the future, as such dominating displays have been infrequent.
