The first edition was the ACC U19 World Cup 1989, which was held in Bangladesh, and it was India U19 who beat Sri Lanka U19 in the final by a comfortable margin of 79 runs. From there, India U-19 won the next four editions too, and they’ve got a smashing record in this tournament, winning 8 of the 10 completed ACC U-19 Asia Cup competitions so far, including one being shared with Pakistan in 2012.
While there were considerable gaps between two editions earlier, the tournament now takes place almost every second year, if not every year. The only editions not won by India were in the U-19 Asia Cup 2019, where Afghanistan U-19 beat Pakistan U-19 in the final, and most recently, Bangladesh U-19 beat UAE U-19.
