Lucknow Super Giants have been taking steps in the right direction in IPL 2024. On Sunday, the KL Rahul-led team defeated last year’s finalists Gujarat Titans in a dominating display. In spite of the win, skipper KL Rahul has been facing flak for his slow innings. His strike rate has been just over 134, and is nowhere near the best batters in IPL 2024. In a hillarious video released by LSG on Monday, KL Rahul is seen touching on the topic.
In the video, a famous influencer is seen engaging in a fun banter with KL Rahul. The influencer congratulates Rahul for the win and says, “Aapko toh India ka next defence minister banna chahiye (You should be the defence minister).”
Hearing the compliment, KL Rahul replies, “Ab tu bhi mazak udayega mere slow strike rate ka? (Now you will also make fun of my slow strike rate?)”
The influencer immediately clarifies that the statement stemmed from LSG’s performance on Sunday when they successfully defended 160 runs against GT.

Although the influencer’s made the statement on a different note, the statement stands true for Rahul too who has struggled to accelerate throughout the tournament. With the T20 World Cup drawing near, Rahul’s slow strike rate of just 134 may be a cause of concern for Indian selectors and chances of the LSG skipper missing the bus cannot be overruled.
