Aakash Chopra sees this Gujarat Titans player as a game-changer in IPL 2025

Aakash Chopra believes Washington Sundar is underrated but valuable, highlighting his potential to shine for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025.

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes Washington Sundar is a player with great potential for IPL 2025, especially among the Gujarat Titans (GT) squad. Sundar didn’t get to play during India’s 2025 Champions Trophy victory and had limited chances with SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2024 season.

Gujarat Titans’ investment in Sundar

The Gujarat Titans bought Washington Sundar for ₹3.20 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. Last season, he played only two games for SRH, taking one wicket and facing just one ball. Despite this, Chopra sees IPL 2025 as a big opportunity for the spin-bowling all-rounder.

Aakash Chopra’s insight

In a video on his YouTube channel ‘Aakash Chopra,’ the former opener shared his views, saying, “Washington Sundar’s stock has gone so low. I don’t know why. He was there in the Champions Trophy recently but didn’t play a single match. He is an ICC trophy winner but without playing a single match. He was in Hyderabad. He didn’t used to get an opportunity there too,” Chopra explained.

“Here also he has been sold cheap. So he is slightly underrated. People are not giving him that much importance but he is a decent player in my opinion. He might not be a very good finisher, but he can bowl in the powerplay and bat at the start. So he could be that umbrella man kind of a player. It’s a massive opportunity for Washington Sundar,” Chopra added.
