The team then suffered a defeat to Australia in the 2015 World Cup semi-final. They also lost to West Indies in the T20 World Cup semifinal before losing the Champions trophy final to Pakistan in 2017. India suffered a defeat to New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup semifinal.
