With Shane Watson rejecting the latest deal, the team heads into the marquee tournament without a stand on who would be the coach. Watson was reportedly offered upto PKR 4 crs, which he has reportedly rejected.

As per Cricket Pakistan, Watson recieved a pay of PKR 4,20,00,000 (approx $150,000) as a part of fee paid by Quetta Gladiators for PSL. Despite staying for 28 days and earning Rs 15 lakhs per day, the side did not fare well under Watson. This amounts to PKR 4,20,00,00.
Why did Watson reject PCB’s offer?
Watson initially showed interest in the position and even discussed specific terms with the PCB, including financial compensation. According to sources, the PCB was willing to meet Watson’s demands.
Negotiations took a turn when details about the proposed contract were leaked to the Pakistani media and social media. Watson ultimately declined the offer. He cited prior commitments as a commentator in the IPL and the USA league, along with his desire to spend more time with his family in Australia.

PCB considers interim measures for Pakistan
With both Sammy and Watson out of contention, the PCB needs to find a solution. They are currently exploring the possibility of an interim arrangement to oversee the national team’s training camp scheduled for March 25 to April 8. This temporary coach would guide the team in the lead-up to the upcoming five-match T20 series against New Zealand, starting April 14.
