6 wickets in 1 over: We have often heard of six sixes in an over but six wickets in an over seems quite impossible. What comes as a mind-boggling achievement, a Grade 11 student in Dubai achieved the impossible in UAE U-16 cricket. Harshit Seth achieved the special record on November 28 by taking six consecutive wickets against Pakistan team Hyderabad Hawks Academy RCG.

The left-arm spinner went on to take as many as 8 wickets to guide Dubai Cricket Council to bowl out the visitors for just 44 runs. As many as six teams are taking part in the U-19 Karwan Global T20 League, conducted by Ajman Cricket Council.

Four of his dismissals were bowled out while he got three players lbw out and one of them was a catch.

“I didn’t expect it. Never thought any bowler would ever get six wickets [in an over]. I just wanted to keep bowling as if I didn’t get any wicket and not think about it,” Seth told gulfnews.com

“I was not under any pressure. I was a bit nervous when I prepared to bowl the sixth ball. But I didn’t want to get greedy because when you start going for wickets, then things could go wrong. So I didn’t want to go for the wicket, Just wanted to stick to the basics of a good line and length. That got me the wickets,” he added.

A double hat-trick is never achieved in international cricket. However, a similar record was achieved in Australia in January 2017 when Aled Carey took 6 wickets in an over while playing for Golden Point Cricket Club against East Ballarat in the fourth-team fixture match in Victoria.

As per statistician Mohandas Menon, G Sirett had taken a double hat-trick in an over for Rowland United against Royal Warwickshire Regimental Association in 1951. YS Ramaswami had also achieved a similar feat in school cricket in 1930 in Madras.
