5 spinners who could be in demand at the IPL 2024 Auction
- Shakib Al Hasan: The left-arm spinner has 63 wickets in 71 matches in the IPL. Having played 9 editions of the league, the former Bangladeshi skipper has ample experience. Apart from his guile as a spinner, Shakib is more than a handy batter and provides extra batting apart from being a frontline spinner.
- Adil Rashid: The premier English leg spinner has never been a go-to bowler in the IPL. Rashid has played just 3 matches in the league so far but holds an exemplary record in T20s, with over 300 wickets to his name.
- Wanindu Hasaranga: The leg spinner was released by RCB ahead of the IPL 2024 auction with fear over his fitness. Hasaranga has a short but great record in the IPL. Having played just 26 matches, he has 35 wickets at a strike rate of 15.77 and an average of 21.37.
- Dunith Wellalage: The young left-arm spinner made his mark in the Asia Cup 2023. Having just played 27 T20s, Wellalage is slightly inexperienced but immensely talented. The left-hander is handy with the bat, providing batting depth as well as playing the role of a frontline spinner.
- Aryan Dutt: The Dutch off-spinner is known for his defensive bowling. At just 20 years old, Aryan proved to be the Netherlands’ best bowler in the ODI World Cup 2023. With the ability to bowl in the powerplay and hit the ball a long way, he’ll be one to watch out for.
