5 PBKS players who could leave the franchise after IPL 2024

After a disappointing performance by the Punjab Kings (PBKS), five players may leave the team after IPL 2024.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) need to change their strategy for the auction table as they have not qualified for the playoffs since 2014. Punjab has disappointed their fans in every season since then, ending at the bottom five or six of the points table. In the next mega auction, PBKS would like to reconstruct their team, and for that, they need to let go of a few players. Here are five such PBKS players who could leave the franchise after IPL 2024.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan was named Punjab’s captain in IPL 2023. The franchise anticipated positive results from his leadership; however, after appointing him as captain, PBKS’s performance deteriorated even further.

In this season, Dhawan has scored 152 runs in five matches at an average of 30.40. His strike rate has been 125.62, which is not acceptable in the shorter format of the game.

Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone was bought for Rs 11.50 crore in the IPL 2024 Auction. He has smashed 105 runs in five matches and taken only one wicket. PBKS needed more contribution from him.

IPL Latest News

Rilee Rossouw

Rilee Rossouw joined PBKS for 8 crore in the previous auction, but he has played only one match so far in IPL 2024. It seems that he is not in the scheme of things for the team.

Jonny Bairstow

Punjab was counting on Bairstow to lead the batting line-up. Bairstow has played six matches and scored 96 runs at an average of 16.00. In the next auction, they need to find a better wicketkeeping batter who could be more reliable.

Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel was the most expensive Indian player in the IPL 2024 Auction. He was bought for Rs 11.75 crore by the team. So far, Patel has taken 10 wickets in seven matches. It is a decent stat, but if PBKS wants to build a new team, they need money, and Patel is too costly.
