5 DC players who could leave the franchise after IPL 2024

Signs aren't great for the Delhi Capitals, as they're struggling again in the ongoing IPL. Looking at this scenario, DC can take some strong actions to build a strong team, and they can only do so by releasing a few players.

The Delhi Capitals are once again facing difficulty performing well in the ongoing Indian Premier League. If we look at their IPL 2024 performances they are currently at the 8th position after 8 games. Having won just 3 and lost 5 major games. It seems that, no matter what they try, they are failing every single time. In this scenario, DC has to make changes in their squad in the next IPL season if they desire to win the trophy. So,which DC players could get released by the management in the next season? Let’s have a look at five DC players who may leave franchise after this IPL season.

David Warner

DC had high expectations from the Australian great David Warner, but he hasn’t had a good run yet. In IPL 2024, he has played seven games to date and made just 137 runs with a poor batting average of 23.86.

As mentioned, DC had a lot of expectations from Warner when they picked him up in 2022 after he was released by SRH. He was picked by DC for the price of 6.25 crore, but now it seems like DC will look to invest in new young talent rather than sticking with seniors like him.

Prithvi Shaw

DC was initially looking to invest in him, but looking at the current relationship between Prithvi Shaw and the DC management, it gives the impression that he may leave DC soon.

His recent performances also support this assumption. In six games to date, he has only scored 174 runs with an average of 29. He hasn’t delivered any match-winning performances so far this season. Apart from his on-field performance, his off-field activities have also come under scrutiny. Connecting all of this dots, he might get released by DC next season.

Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh is yet another name who may get released next year. As an all-rounder, he hasn’t made any impact, neither with the bat nor with the ball. This season, he has played four matches and made just 61 runs with a very poor batting average of 15.25.

Not only with the bat, but his poor performances continue with the ball as well. He has conceded 103 runs in just four matches, with a very poor bowling average of 103. Marsh’s current form is not justifying his place in the DC squad, and there is a high chance that he might get released by the franchise.

Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje, the 30-year-old DC pacer, has conceded 246 runs in five games with a bowling average of 41. He hasn’t delivered any match winning performances this season. In recent IPL matches, Nortje has conceded more than 60 runs in his four-over spells twice.

If he fails to make an impact in the upcoming matches, DC is likely to release him. Nortje joined DC as a replacement player in 2020 and has been a permanent part of the squad since then. However, his performances this year give the hint that he might get release by the franchise.

Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed, another DC pacer, is set to be released next season due to his unimpressive performances to date. In IPL 2024, this left-arm medium pacer has conceded 280 runs with a poor bowling average of 28. Although he has taken 10 wickets, his bowling economy of 9.03 is a concern, as he has leaked many runs.

DC is struggling to form a strong bowling unit, so they may be looking to build a more reliable group. They have to take strong action, and it is possible that Khaleel might get omitted from the DC franchise in the next season.
